DISHMAN HILLS CONSERVANCY
WILD FLOWER WALK presented by Paul Knowles of Spokane County Parks and the Native Plant Society. Paul will take the cool trail along Iller Creek where a profusion of flowers will be found.
The pace will be slow and you will learn about the native plant ecosystems in the Iller Creek drainage.
Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.
The group will meet at 10 am the Redeemer Lutheran Church (3606 South Schafer RD) and carpool to the trailhead where the available parking is limited. From I-90 exit #287 proceed south on Argonne Road past Sprague Ave which becomes Dishman Mica RD. Stay on Dishman Mica RD for 2.8 miles and turn right onto Schafer Rd. ILLER CREEK: The Iller Creek Unit is part of the Dishman Hills Conservation Area and is one of the more popular conservation areas acquired through the Conservation Futures Program. Consisting of 966 acres of trails and habitat on the east flanks of Tower Mountain, this property includes granite monoliths popular with rock climbers, seasonal creeks, and views of Spokane Valley and the Palouse.
The Iller Creek Conservation Area hosts 163 species of invertebrates, 120 species of birds, 15 mammals and 2 amphibians. Moose and black bear are frequently seen by visitors.
