There’s a good feeling we get when we show up for others, whether it’s a family member, a neighbor, or a local nonprofit we care about.

And it’s not just about good-feels — volunteering or donating money to support nonprofit groups helps everyone in the community. From Puget Sound to the Palouse, the Cascades to the Columbia River, great things happen for everyone when you give what you can.

That’s what GiveBIG is all about.

    Philosophy Hike at Camp Caro

    with EWU student, Emma Bartholomew

Please read the description below and then register for this hike.

Leader: Emma and Alicia are students of philosophy at Eastern Washington University. Join them on this hike to discuss "Gaia: Everything on Earth is Connected".

Hikers are encouraged to read the attached literature below before the hike to discuss its content.

Location: Camp Caro dirt parking lot off Appleway

    Time: 2:00pm

Trail Description: The terrain is uneven with many rock steps. We will gain and lose 300 feet of elevation - similar to going up many flights of stairs. This is easy for some and challenging for others. We will take several breaks along the way to catch our breath, appreciate the surroundings, and discuss the reading. Please wear closed-toe shoes and be ready for some light clambering over rocks in one area of the trail.

Trail Length: 1.3 miles round trip

Approximate Duration of Hike: 1.5 - 2 hours

When: Tuesday, May 14th at 2PM.

Why: Get outside and enjoy the benefits of being in nature.

Hike Description: This hike is easy to moderate for most with an elevation gain of about 300 feet. It's like a going up many flights of stairs that are spread out.

    Length: 2 miles.

Time: About 2 hours depending upon stops and the number of attendees.

Because we are hiking in a sensitive ecosystem, please no dogs on this hike.

We will walk in rain or shine, so please dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes or boots. Bring water.

Directions: From the intersection of 57th and Palouse Highway, drive south on the Palouse Highway for 2.4 miles.  Turn left on Rural Rte. 3/E. Willow Springs Rd.  Continue for 2 miles up the hill (keep right) and through the metal gate.  If you are on a rough gravel road you are on the right track and you will arrive at our gravel parking lot and a little house in the woods.

    Please Consider Donating

I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

    Best,

    Stevens Creek Bird Hike

    with Jon Isacoff

Members only. Those not registered will be turned away.

Stevens Creek is among the best places in Spokane to hear a diversity of singing migrant songbirds. Sometimes we see them too! Come join us for an early morning hike while learning about bird songs and notes.

Meet in Stevens Creek Parking lot at 6AM.  We will hike to Big Rock and back and see and listen to bird songs.  With luck we should observe 20 or more species of songbirds, though more will be heard than seen in this wooded location.

Hike will be approximately 2.2 miles and 2 hours.

Though we will be traveling at a slow to moderate pace, the trail will be steep in places and hiking poles may be helpful.

Binoculars are recommended! Please come dressed for weather and bring snacks, water, and bug spray. It still tends to be chilly in the mornings and it is tic season.

Unfortunately, this is not a hike for dogs. Please park at the Stevens Creek Trailhead at 9102 Stevens Creek Rd, Spokane Valley.
