Native Plant Hike at Iller Creek Trailhead

NATIVE PLANT HIKE - ILLER CREEK TRAILHEAD

Becky Knapp will lead this nature walk - she is an expert with a particular interest in Iller Creek. The 5+ mile hike will proceed at a slow pace as we enjoy the diverse plant species located along Iller Creek. We will go the Rocks of Sharon Ridge where we hope to see flowering bitterroot. 

The nature walk starts at the Iller Creek Trailhead, but because of limited parking at the trailhead, we will carpool from Redeemer Lutheran Church at 3606 S Old Schafer Road. 

Iller Creek is known for its wide variety of plant and tree types, including western hemlock forests. The walk along Iller Creek is cool and wet with appropriate plants and the Rocks of Sharon ridge is dry with fabulous views over the Palouse. This is a perfect hike to learn about several native plant ecosystems.

This moderately difficult hike will start at 2 pm and last 4 hours. This route involves about 1100 ft. of elevation gain; some of it moderately steep. Bring snacks, water, and weather appropriate clothes. The weather looks perfect this Sunday. Join us for this impromptu event.
