Dishman Hills & the Spokane Mountaineers:

Past and Present

7:00 – 8:30 pm on Tuesday, Jan 16, 2018

Mountain Gear Headquarters (not the retail store)

6021 E Mansfield Ave, Spokane Valley

Jeff Lambert and Chris Kopczynski will present the past and present of the Dishman Hills as the Wild Heart of Spokane. The Mountaineers have recreated in the Hills since the 1920s! We will provide an update on the latest acquisitions. This event is sponsored by the Spokane Mountaineers and is free to everyone.

Chris starts with his story about how the Dishman Hills changed his life starting in 1964 with a chance meeting with the Mountaineers. The history of the Hills and the Mountaineers is intertwined with climbing & other recreation and conservation of a beloved area.

Jeff describes the successful efforts to protect conservation land after Tom Rogers founded the DHC in 1966. Jeff will also update everyone on the current status of land acquisitions to complete the conservation corridor linking the existing conservation areas.

Spectacular videos and photographs will accompany the presentation.

This free event is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
